About Yago, the artist:
Yago Partal (b. 1982, Barcelona) lives and works in Barcelona.
He creates his anthropomorphic images through a painstaking combination of photography, illustration and collage. His intention (in humanising animals) is to make us look again, to see them as "one of us" and not something to be exploited or endangered.
Yago has returned to university to study his passion, zoology. The sales from the Zoo Portraits have enabled him to support a number of wildlife charities over the years, and to work with children to educate the next generation about animal conservation.
About Jeong, the Amur leopard:
This beautiful animal is now critically endangered, with only 35 Amur leopards left in the wild, and 150 in breeding programmes worldwide.
The main threats to this species have always been poaching (for its fur, but also for its organs, used in traditional Asian medicine), prey depletion (due to human poaching), the construction of an oil pipeline planned to be built through its habitat and the lack of political engagement regarding its protection.
Amur leopards are extremely agile animals and can leap three metres in the air and six metres horizontally. They run short distances at high speeds and descend from trees head first.

Before Subject Matter I would never have thought about being an
art-buyer. It felt like a world I didn't understand and didn't belong
in. You have opened my eyes.

I was amazed by the buying experience. I was contacted right after I confirmed the purchase and was taken care of all the way to the delivery, and even after. Never had such a friendly and professional service when buying a piece of art.
