Four commissions were available from Laura this month; two are left! If you see them marked as sold out, just email us to be added to the waiting list, she will be making more next month.
Laura is a mixed-media artist who explores memories and feelings through textile, painting, found images and photography. Her practice is informed by her dual roles as both an artist and an art psychotherapist, where she works with children and young people who are struggling with their mental health.
For the Kind Commissions, Laura will create a circular weaving based upon a memory, sensation or experience you want to share. She will paint onto fabric using abstract shapes, forms and colours to tell your story, before weaving it together.
We love this personal aspect of Laura's work - it is simply magical. Laura says that making art has been a comfort during the more challenging times in her life, and you can really feel that soothing sense of comfort when you have her work in your home (as we do!).
Laura will create a circular weaving from fabric, 30cm in diameter. The weaving will be ready to hang. You can see an example of a piece she made here, but please remember, the work you receive will be a complete surprise!
"Thank you for putting together your vision, bringing such fantastic
people together and for now adding to my home with such a fantastic
piece, for which I am very grateful!"
Sophie | Munich
"Before Subject Matter I would never have thought about being an
art-buyer. It felt like a world I didn't understand and didn't belong
in. You have opened my eyes!"
Cheryl | London
"I was amazed by the buying experience. I was contacted right after I confirmed the purchase and was taken care of all the way to the delivery, and even after. Never had such a friendly and professional service when buying a piece of art."
Olivier | Shanghai
