Steven Siegel's pictures of 1970s and 80s New York City and its surrounding boroughs may look completely unrecognisable to many but Siegel's photos present an authentic and bygone New York. This series represents a New York City that no longer exists, the pre-”Disney-fied” Times Square with its XXX theaters and Evangelical protestors.

This photo was taken of spectators observing historic sailing ships in the New York harbor during an event known as "Operation Sail." Remarkably, no one prevented these people from entering the construction site to observe the sailing ships. It was a very different era.
