Mark Mawson began his photography career as a photojournalist, before branching out into fine art photography. For the last five years, he has been working on his series Aqueous, which was inspired by watching milk being poured into coffee. In 2011 he won gold at the Dabomba Creative Awards for his Aqueous Fluoreau series, which is represented here. The beauty of the Aqueous series was further highlighted when a video was projected onto the walls of Buckingham Palace during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert.
Artist's Statement: "I want to take the viewer on a journey into an undiscovered alien or underwater world. The swirling and blending of a combination of coloured liquids resemble strange creatures or inter-galactic explosions and play with the viewer's notions of perception and reality."
